About

After playing nearly every role in the software product development lifecycle—executive and hands-on alike—I’ve realized my core strength is product inception. I excel at the new: creating products from scratch, modernizing legacy systems, building smart teams and solving hard problems with them. I’m at my best in front of a blank whiteboard, debating solutions, architecting and charting the path forward. This focus on the new and innovative is why I’ve been successful leading transformation initiatives both inside companies and as a trusted advisor. My focus on quality reflects what I believe is the #1 challenge in software development: building systems that not only meet requirements but also delight users and drive revenue. As I learned while serving as Steve Jobs’ “quality guy” at NeXT, true quality is not just the absence of bugs—it’s the presence of business and user value. My experience spans startups and public companies, system software and enterprise apps, 1.0 launches and end-of-life transitions. I’ve worked across the full lifecycle—design, architecture, development, QA, DevOps, release, documentation, support, and IT—across both onshore and offshore models. In every case, my focus on product, people, culture, and process has consistently delivered results. I am a classic T-shaped leader: deep in software architecture and product inception, broad across the full range of technical disciplines from embedded to end-user applications, and from engineering implementation through deployment and support. I pick up new domains quickly and have developed systems in agriculture, travel, education, utilities, automotive, telecom, healthcare, and finance, as well as systems and analytics software. I’m creative, a strong communicator, and an inventor with patents in IoT, media, and microservices. I’ve shared insights through blogs, keynotes, and white papers on topics including cloud-native architectures, modernization, and the economics of digital transformation—and most recently, GenAI. At GlobalLogic I recognized early the profound impact GenAI would have on software product development and services. In 2022, soon after ChatGPT’s launch, I began evangelizing its potential. By 2023, I proposed a GenAI-native software development services model. In 2024, I architected a secure, IP-conscious approach to autonomous software development, secured funding, built a team, and delivered the first version in just months. That work—now called VelocityAI SDLC—is live in production and evolving.

Experience

Globallogic

Chief Technology Officer (CTO)

Apr 2009Oct 2025 · 16 yrs 6 mos · Santa Clara, California, United States

  • As GlobalLogic’s CTO, my focus has been guiding clients through industry-shaping digital and technology transformations as well as incubating new ideas inside GlobalLogic itself. My role has been equal parts software architect, strategist, and hands-on builder, always with the goal of helping organizations deliver high-value products and software-enabled services to market.
  • During my time at GlobalLogic, in strategic partnership with our clients, I’ve led transformations that reshaped entire companies: a media giant moving from print to digital (recognized with 10 patents issued, 12 pending), a national retailer vaulting from e-commerce laggard to leader, a global travel platform migrating from mainframes to microservices, and a $500B private equity modernizing its portfolio management. I’ve sat with boards, advised executives, and guided investors through technical due diligence—all to ensure technology became a driver of business growth, not just cost reduction.
  • Inside GlobalLogic, I founded and grew our Practices organization to scale expertise across Agile, Architecture, Cloud, DevOps, UX, QA, IoT, AI/ML, Data, Mobile, and Web3—eventually spanning thousands of experts worldwide. More recently, I launched our GenAI and Innovation Incubation practices to accelerate adoption of GenAI both internally and for our clients.
  • Since late 2022, my focus has been on what I term “GenAI-native” product development, and how it will reshape both our clients and the software industry. My technical focus has been the creation of autonomous, agentic orchestration of product development—what I see as the next generation of software product development services. I conceived, secured funding for, and led the initial development of VelocityAI SDLC, our GenAI-native software development platform. Within five months, a team I built and led delivered the first demo release. As of 2025, GlobalLogic is evolving it into a production system and new business model for services companies.

Chordiant software

VP & GM, Offshore Operations; Vice President, World-wide Quality & Test Engineering

Jan 2004Jan 2009 · 5 yrs

  • Re-implemented Chordiant’s test and related organizations, moving from a 21-person distributed on-shore organization (CA, NH and UK) to a 70-person off-shore focused organization with leads in three on-shore US/EUR geographies. Increased coverage, per-person productivity and product throughput in the process while keeping absolute costs roughly the same, and grew footprint from testing two product lines to six. Ratio of on-shore to off-shore test personnel was successfully maintained at about 1:18.
  • Managed operations for Chordiant’s Bangalore, India development center consisting of Test, Support, Development and related functions. Grew the center from 80 heads to 150 while lowering annualized attrition from above 30% to a sustained rate of 12%. Introduced an Operation Excellence campaign to get center focused on its key deliverables, and achieved or exceeded 92% of targets over a 15 month period.
  • Championed the adoption of Agile processes throughout the engineering organization world-wide. This caught fire and become an engineering-wide initiative with many champions. Initiative has been conspicuously successful in 5 of 6 product lines with the remaining product line in the early phases of adoption. Demonstrated positive impact on product quality, productivity and schedule predictability for all teams adopting Agile / Scrum.
  • Led initiative to establish a “second source” offshore vendor in the Central / Eastern Europe geography. Visited 12 vendor sites in 7 countries. Drove the selection / shortlist POC process which led to the successful selection and enablement of an ODC in Belarus.

Sr. Director, Software Quality

Jan 2002Jan 2003 · 1 yr

  • Cost-effectively grew Quality organization from 29 to 53 people by incremental addition of off-shore (India) and alternative workers. Aggressively addressed new product introductions, while increasing coverage more than 10-fold and maturing quality processes on existing products. Had only one undesired attrition in this time despite rapid pace of change.
  • Introduced tools and metrics which enabled tracking and effective management of multiple simultaneous enterprise-scale application releases (an average of nearly 2 per month).
  • Recruited and directed small, sharp team in the design and initial implementation phases of a state-of-the-art end-to-end test execution and results repository. Used XML as an abstract keyword-based scripting language to drastically lower test maintenance costs.
