Yossi Matias — CEO
Yossi Matias is Vice President, Google, and the Head of Google Research. He leads world-class global teams driving research from foundational and applied machine learning and algorithms, to foundational models in health, education and earth, to generative AI and science, to quantum computing. Yossi was previously on Google Search leadership for over a decade, leading strategic features and technologies, from autocomplete and trends to pioneering conversational AI innovations. He was also the founding lead of Google center in Israel, building and growing it to 2500 on staff, and helped grow the Bangalore and Africa teams. During his nearly two-decade tenure at Google Yossi drove breakthrough research and innovation, led products, and founded and spearheaded initiatives leading to Google's AI for Social Good, Crisis Response, Google for Startups Accelerator, and Google Arts & Culture. Prior to Google Yossi was driving entrepreneurship endeavors as well as academic research - he was on the Computer Science faculty of Tel Aviv University, a visiting professor at Stanford, and a Research Scientist at Bell Labs. A prolific computer scientist, Yossi is a recipient of the Gödel Prize, the ACM Kanellakis Theory and Practice Award and is an ACM Fellow.
