About

I’ve spent over two decades in technology, but what continues to motivate me is simple: turning ideas into outcomes that customers actually experience. As Group CIO at Deutsche Telekom, my role is to bring clarity and coherence to a complex global technology landscape spanning platforms, cloud, data, AI, and customer-facing systems. The objective is not technology for its own sake, but simpler, faster, and more human experiences at global scale. Previously, I led the B2C CIO organisation across Germany and the Europe Area, working across more than 11 markets. That experience reinforced a core lesson: building once and scaling everywhere only works when customer experience, architecture, and engineering culture evolve together. I also built and led Deutsche Telekom Digital Labs, where I saw firsthand what happens when teams are trusted to think boldly, learn fast, and turn experimentation into platforms that scale. A few beliefs continue to guide how I lead: • AI should be embedded into how work gets done, not added on as a layer • Simplicity beats cleverness, especially at scale • Great platforms fade into the background and quietly power everything • No transformation matters unless it brings us closer to the customer I’m grateful to work with teams across our markets who live these principles every day. The most rewarding part of this role is seeing local ideas grow into global impact and watching complexity give way to clarity. I enjoy connecting with people who care about platforms, modern engineering, and building technology that genuinely serves customers.

Group CIO

Promoted

Sep 2025Present · 6 mos

  • Stepping into the Group CIO role has been an opportunity to bring our global technology story closer together. My focus is on building the foundations that help every market move faster with shared platforms, responsible AI, cloud-native architectures, and a clear path toward a simpler and more human customer experience.
  • What this really means day to day:
  • Connecting technology leaders across countries around one shared vision
  • Scaling AI and platform capabilities that help every team deliver more, with less complexity
  • Modernising our IT landscape so our products and experiences evolve at the pace customers expect
  • Ensuring our ways of working are global, not just local and rooted in ownership, transparency, and learning
  • At its core, this role is about closing the gap between strategy and execution, ensuring that ideas scale globally, technology stays manageable, and customer impact remains the true measure of progress.

CIO B2C (Germany and EU segments)

Promoted

Oct 2021Aug 2025 · 3 yrs 10 mos

  • Leading the B2C CIO organisation across Germany and the Europe Area gave me a front-row seat to how powerful shared thinking can be. Across 11+ markets, we built a common architecture backbone, modernised products and channels, and created reusable capabilities that shaped customer journeys everywhere.
  • Highlights that stayed with me:
  • Making “build once, scale everywhere” a reality
  • Modernising digital channels to bring simplicity and speed to millions of customers
  • Strengthening collaboration between business, product, and engineering teams
  • Helping teams shift from legacy systems to cloud-native, API-first foundations
  • Above all, this was about shifting mindsets from delivering features to delivering outcomes.

CIO of European Segment

Mar 2018Oct 2021 · 3 yrs 7 mos

  • I was the CIO across 11 European countries during a pivotal phase of our transformation. The mandate was clear but complex: align diverse markets behind a common digital and IT architecture, and set them on a path to becoming leading digital telcos.
  • We established a shared architectural vision across channels, platforms, and core systems, while allowing markets the flexibility to adapt locally where it truly mattered. This created the foundation for reusable capabilities, faster delivery, and a more consistent customer experience across countries.
  • Key outcomes included:
  • Alignment of 11 markets around a common digital and IT architecture
  • Launch of transformation programs to modernise channels and core systems
  • Significant improvement in digital customer experience across markets
  • Beyond the outcomes, this role was a deep lesson in leadership at scale. Working across 11 different cultures reinforced a simple truth: a clear common vision, when communicated consistently and owned locally, can bring very different teams together and turn diversity into strength.

Deutsche telekom digital labs

Managing Director

Apr 2020Sep 2025 · 5 yrs 5 mos · Gurgaon, Haryana, India

  • Deutsche Telekom Digital Labs was built as a platform for experimentation, speed, and learning, and over time became the proving ground for many practices that are now standard across the Group.
  • As Managing Director, my role was to turn “firsts” into foundations: new ways of building products, new engineering and delivery models, and new uses of data and AI that could move from lab to scale. What started as experiments were deliberately designed to become repeatable platforms adopted by multiple markets.
  • Key areas of focus included:
  • Establishing modern product and engineering practices that later became the norm across DT
  • Building platform capabilities in digital channels, data, and AI that scaled beyond the lab
  • Creating an environment where teams could move quickly from prototypes to production
  • Growing strong, multidisciplinary teams across product, design, data, and engineering
  • DTDL was less about isolated innovation and more about shaping how the Group builds. It reinforced a core belief that speed, quality, and scale are not trade-offs when teams are empowered, standards are clear, and platforms are designed for reuse.
