About

For as long as I can remember, I’ve always geeked out at the intersection of ‘business x human potential’ To me, entrepreneurship feels like the ultimate personal growth tool. It’s a force function for taking you to the edge of chaos and order; comfort and discomfort; pain and pleasure. The duality of those opposing forces is, in part, what I think I find so thrilling. Constantly being pushed and pulled by the swirling currents of market forces. In business, the only truth is the result. It’s a game of ultimate accountability, personal responsibility and extreme ownership. You can't hide as entrepreneur. You must face your fears, insecurities and self-doubts head on if you want to have any chance of making a success of it. When I joined forces with my co-founders to build Dent into what is a leading accelerator for entrepreneurs globally, it’s only with the benefit of hindsight that I understand why I'm so passionate about what we do. For me, I feel called to lead an 'extraordinary life' and for others to experience the same thing. Extraordinary doesn’t have to mean sending rockets into space (although wouldn’t that be cool! #elonenvy). It just means leading a life that’s anything other than, well, ordinary. You see, mediocrity scares me. It’s like a big golem rearing it’s ugly head over my shoulder, pushing me to be a bit better each week, month and year. Sure, I’m not the most accomplished, good looking or successful person here. I’m just working to be a little better every year and hopefully inspiring other leaders to do the same. I think these stories are inspiring examples of that… 👉 https://dent.community Or the recommendations on my profile from my clients show my genuine desire for them to have their own version of ‘extraordinary’ too. At Dent I’ve been blessed to surround myself with a team of incredibly passionate and bright minds, who have enabled us to do some very cool things. From… 🏆 The many awards we’ve won below, incl. Business Enabler of the Year 🏆 Or being Featured in the likes of INC, Forbes, GQ, Entrepreneur, London Business School and others 🏆 Or the acquisitions of IT, publishing, media and other growth service companies to support our clients success All of these things are a testament to the amazing people I get to surround myself with everyday. Dichotomy Podcast with Mike Reid

Apr 2019Apr 2020 · 1 yr

  • Dichotomy Podcast was an interview series where I talked with leaders, entrepreneurs and ambitious people on the dichotomies they face in their business and life. A dichotomy means a division or contrast between two things that feel opposed. I seek to bring awareness to two sides of his guest's business, life or personality. Perhaps it’s their desire for building a high performance, high octane business contrasted against their desire for the freedom and lifestyle that comes with the ‘simple life’. Maybe it’s feeling torn between their commitments to their family and their commitment to their business.
  • The dichotomy podcast explores how we can better master these dichotomies as entrepreneurs, so we can lead a more extraordinary and contented life.

  • If you’re struggling to stand out in a noisy and competitive market, you’re not alone. Over the last 12 years, my team and I have helped more than 3,500 founders build a ‘Key Person of Influence’ brand in their industry. After working with thousands of companies, I’ve found that most founders face three bottlenecks to growth:
  • 1. Visibility and differentiation - many founders feel like they're their industry’s ‘best-kept secret’ and struggle to get noticed.
  • 2. Growth ceilings - growth leads to complexity, which can be overwhelming for many founders.
  • 3. Founder reliance/time for money - if revenue is tied to your personal input or time, you’re limited in your ability to earn and grow.
  • To overcome these bottlenecks, my business partner and I wrote the Key Person of Influence (Canadian Edition) book, which outlines a 5-step growth system for standing out, scaling up, and making a lasting impact.
