About

Hi, I'm Snigdha, a Master's candidate in Urban Data Science at NYU's Center for Urban Science + Progress (CUSP), where I focus on leveraging data to build more equitable and efficient cities What drives me is the intersection of data and real-world impact. I use spatial analysis and machine learning to tackle urban challenges ranging from transportation equity to climate vulnerabilities and renewable energy infrastructure. This passion led to my selection as a 9/11 Memorial Transportation Research Fellow (2025-26) by the New York Metropolitan Transportation Council (NYMTC). As a part of this fellowship, I work on Vision Zero Initiatives in the Safety Projects and Programs team under the Research, Implementation and Safety division of the New York City Department of Transportation. Beyond academics, I lead the Applied Urban Science Association and the American Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing - NYU Student Chapter as the President, help the broader NYU research community at NYU Data Services as a GIS Consultant, and work with the CUSP Education Team to make urban science more accessible. These roles constantly enable me to bring a consulting approach bridging data science with public policy, academic rigor with real-world impact. I’m comfortable working across disciplines, presenting to both technical and non-technical audiences, and helping agencies and teams use data to drive change. I love food and I love New York. So, when I'm not working, I am probably trying to find my next favorite food spot.
