About

My mission is to transform people's lives and maximise their success through their clothing. Exceptional tailoring and customer service is where I excel and a well-cut suit makes my heart sing. I used to wear three-piece suits to college and have been infatuated with smart clothing since the tender age of 5. I started out working alongside a tailor, learning the tricks of the trade, and since then have stuck it out in the tailored suiting industry for 20+ years. There is no other place I’d rather be. I founded Fielding & Nicholson in 2007, a UK-based bespoke tailoring company. We have grown from a one-man band to hosting showrooms in London, Manchester, Zurich, and New York. We have partnered with luxury hotel groups, shoe makers and cloth merchants, delivering a service of high-end personalisation by appointment. We work with executives, entrepreneurs, sportspeople, celebrities and members of royalty. We aim to keep everything straightforward and efficient in an initial consultation and fitting appointment at our luxury West End studio. This includes a choice of cloths, drinks and a bespoke playlist of our clients choosing. I am motivated by providing clients with exceptional service and quality and being the absolute best at what we do. As a tailoring expert, I help clients to look and feel their best. I lead a team of professional craftsmen who understand the importance of having a personalised and custom-made fit to suit each unique style. My experience extends beyond the realm of tailoring and business development into public speaking as an active member of the Toastmasters group. I enjoy giving back through charity auctions. These include Cancer Research, Stonewall, Outward Bound, The Princes Trust, Centrepoint, and St. Mungo's. We help the less privileged by donating clothing to charities such as Suited for Success and Suited and Booted - both of which donate clothing to young people getting into work. I live for sharing my knowledge and helping people find their place in this world. I believe that nothing is impossible. Fielding and nicholson

Owner of Top Ten Tailor, Stylist & Designer

Jan 2008Present · 18 yrs 2 mos · London, United Kingdom

  • We pride ourselves on three things: Delivering a luxury product, providing exceptional customer service, and improving people’s lives. Gentleman’s Journal recently voted us amongst the top ten tailors in London, and so we continuously strive to achieve our goals and improve in every way possible.
  • Founded in 2007, Fielding & Nicholson started in Manchester with only myself. We have since grown exponentially and have expanded our showrooms and offering to international markets Zurich, New York and Luxembourg.
  • The principles of our service are simple: we take all the benefits of British tailoring and bring them to your doorstep, providing you with a high-end and personalised “shopping” experience in the comfort of your home. We offer a 5-year guarantee on any purchase in case of any changes in size.
  • In my past +20 years of working in the tailored suit industry, I have designed clothing for a vast amount of high-profile men and women who come to me looking for a way to make a positive impact on their appearance, be it in their professional lives or personal. The company has seen a £2m turnover since inception and has reached a level where we now work with numerous celebrities, businessmen, and influential figures. From my experience working with clientele in the luxury sector, I have learned and developed my customer service, salesmanship, business development, and mentorship skills.
  • I have also been fortunate enough to have headed up and coached a large team of tailoring consultants, tailors, and designers, from planning and managing events to opening up a tailoring store and leading online and offline marketing for the business.
  • Every man deserves a tailor-made suit. Fielding and Nicholson produces custom-made, quality suiting to meet the highest standards. With the vast fabric array of exceptional materials that we source, our tailors are dedicated to offering only excellent pieces.

Tom james company

Senior Tailoring Consultant

Mar 2004Apr 2007 · 3 yrs 1 mo · London, United Kingdom

  • Tom James is the world’s largest manufacturer and retailer of custom clothing and the engine behind some of the world’s most established tailored clothing brands. As one of the few remaining vertically integrated clothing retailers—meaning they control the entire manufacturing process ‘from sheep to suit’— Tom James offers an unparalleled value to those with an eye for quality.
  • In my time at Tom James, I looked after developing a client base from inception as well as managed and led a team of individuals. This taught me valuable business lessons in sales, marketing, coaching, and mentorship that I still deploy today.
  • I feel privileged to have won the “World Number 1 Rookie” amongst a global business of over 600 individuals and was recognised as the most successful Tailoring Consultant of my intake. I continued to join the “Presidents Club” with increasing success in my period with the company.
  • As I grow, I often seek new challenges, and my career with the company came to an end. I left Tom James in 2007 to start my own exciting journey within the industry as I looked to have a more hands-on approach and full control of production and product development.
