About

I lead Marketing at DSP Asset Managers, among India’s top investment management firms today. This is my 20th year here. I am also a part of the Indian Asset Management industry body AMFI’s Digital Financial Literacy committee (Think Mutual Funds Sahi Hai) I've been lucky to have worn some interesting hats over my career, including internships at a leading market research firm, a prominent advertising firm, an international banking giant & a French beauty and cosmetics conglomerate, before moving on to my full time marketing role here at DSP in 2006. My work today allows me to indulge in marketing, writing, researching, crafting advertisements, building media plans, managing budgets, developing strategy, tracking analytics, launching products & brands, crafting intuitive product interfaces & experiences and my favorite-working with people & building teams. I try to use both my left and my right brain as much as possible, but lean much more towards the right side. Over the years, I have trained myself to become a heuristic problem solver, not afraid to supplement & at times push back on data & science with my own gut feel. I find it fascinating to work in ambiguous scenarios where I get to exercise my imagination, while striving to operate on the basic tenets of simplicity, minimalism & common sense. I believe I have a people-oriented leadership style I'm an INTJ. My loves include Pink Floyd, Pizza, Lord of the Rings, Manchester United and all animals including my cats Larry, Jerry & Hoshi. I love to listen to people and their stories and aspire to become a good storyteller someday. I hold a MBA from Management Development Institute, Gurgaon, India and have completed multiple Executive Education Programs on a range of subjects like Data, Analytics, Artificial Intelligence, Automation, Negotiations & Dealmaking, Customer Centricity and Leadership from top global institutions including Northwestern University- Kellogg School of Management, Harvard Business School & Indian School of Business.   • I basically got questionnaires filled by the relevant brand's consumers who seemed to fit the recruitment criteria. Plain and simple. Stood on Delhi roads, went to random places where lots of people seem to flock, walked up to strangers and asked them if they're interested to spend the next 45 minutes with me.
  • I wasn't part of the process during the research brief or design or test stages, my job was to simply go out and meet the numbers
  • Major Learning: Learnt how to get myself to talk to people and how to get them to respond to me. Importantly, realized how difficult it was to recruit the right respondents for a brand to listen to, and also recognized how tough it is in a professional firm to get primary research audited and authenticated (since only about 6-7 of every 10 questionnaires I would get filled made the cut)
