  • Columbus is Vodafone's flagship international exposure program for its high potential management trainees. As a part of this program, I spent two years in Vodafone Italy where I was a part of Multicultural Segment consumer marketing team. The Multicultural Segment caters to the customers who weren’t born in Italy but are living there for purposes of employment/education etc. and have communication needs to stay connected with their home country.
  • My role as a product manager entailed end to end product responsibility for the segment. Insight mining, product conceptualization, building and defending the business case, coordinating with the tech teams to deliver the product with the requisite multilingual customer experience, budgeting & forecasting; the works, basically. For a certain period during my stint, I also managed the go-to-market part of the business, which included auditing and delivering brochures in a language that I did not speak at that point in time!
  • In an equal parts challenging and enriching stint, my most satisfying achievement was spearheading the product C’all Global. This product allowed Vodafone Italy customers to make unlimited calls to Vodafone Romania customers, leveraging the scale of Vodafone Group and providing a truly unmatched competitive advantage. This resulted in 2X sales for both sides. This project was particularly satisfying not just because of the complexity of the business case (it had to work for not just one, but three distinct balance sheets: VF Italy, VF Romania, and VF Group!); but also because it became a global first for Vodafone, later replicated for many such partnerships.
