About

I am a Professor of Urban Analytics in the University of Leeds School of Geography, where I lead the Mobility Science Lab (MobSciLab) research group. I am also Pro-Dean for Research and Innovation for the Faculty of Environment, and Honorary Professor at University College London (UCL). My research relates to the quantitative and computational analysis of human mobility, with an interest in the influences of urban space and spatial cognition, and intersections with public health. I am involved in several large research programmes spanning mobility and health research. I am Deputy Director of the ESRC Healthy and Sustainable Places (HASP) Data Service, and Co-Investigator and Flagship Lead on the EPSRC INFUZE and Digital Health for AMR Hub programmes. Prior to these projects, I led the UK-Canada AI Initiative RAIM, and was Co-Director of the Consumer Data Research Centre (CDRC). To date I have been involved with over £40m of funded research projects as Principal and Co-Investigator from diverse funding sources, including the EPSRC, ESRC, MRC, ERC, Wellcome Trust, and the Leverhulme Trust. I won the Phillip Leverhulme Prize for Geography in 2022. My research has been published in numerous top tier journals including Nature, PNAS, Scientific Reports, IJGIS, Cities, The Lancet, Nature Medicine, Journal of Transport Geography, and I am a co-author of Agent-based Modelling and Geographic Information Systems: A Practical Primer book published by Sage.
