About

For over thirty years, across five countries and four disciplines, I have pursued a single intellectual project: demonstrating that philosophy is not merely an academic exercise but a practical art, one that directly addresses how human beings make decisions, endure suffering, and live well. Trained in political philosophy at the Australian National University under Philip Pettit and Tom Campbell, I have since worked across philosophy, law, criminology, and psychotherapy. I have published twelve books with leading academic publishers including Palgrave Macmillan, Routledge, and Anthem Press, and over sixty peer-reviewed articles in applied ethics, virtue ethics, philosophical practice, and the philosophy of punishment. The most distinctive outcome of this work is Modal Integrative Psychotherapy (MIP), a clinical methodology I developed over fifteen years that integrates Lacanian psychoanalytic theory with modal logic and virtue ethics. Published by Palgrave Macmillan in 2025, MIP treats patients not as bundles of symptoms but as agents whose suffering is intelligible through the logical structure of their beliefs, desires, and self-understanding. I now combine academic research, clinical practice, and executive consulting. My consulting work brings rigorous philosophical thinking to senior leaders navigating strategic decisions under conditions of uncertainty and moral complexity. I am seeking a senior academic leadership position in a warm climate where I can bring this integrated vision of philosophy as practice to institutional scale.
