Lindau nobel laureate meetings

Young Scientist

Jun 2019Jul 2019 · 1 mo · Lindau, Germany

  • 69th Nobel Laureate Meeting in Lindau:
  • Once every year, around 30-40 Nobel Laureates convene in Lindau to meet the next generation of leading scientists: 600 undergraduates, PhD students, and post-doc researchers from all over the world. The Lindau Nobel Laureate Meetings foster the exchange among scientists of different generations, cultures, and disciplines.
  • In 2019, 580 young scientists were selected from 88 countries to meet 40 Nobel Laureates in Physics. Applications were assessed by the Department of Science and Technology, India and selected by the Lindau Nobel Laureate Foundation, following a rigorous and independent evaluation process.

  • Research description:
  • I had optimized and fabricated inorganic cesium tin iodide thin films (CsSnI3) and investigated their degradation with time under four different environmental conditions using XRD and PL as a probe to evaluate the structural and optical properties.
  • Developed tin-based perovskite solar cells and characterized their I-V properties.
  • This research is documented in my PhD thesis.

International summer school on photovoltaics andnew concepts of quantum solar energy conversion

Young Researcher

Sep 2015Sep 2015 · 0 mo · Hirschegg, Austria

  • The school primarily included young reserachers with an interest in photovoltaics, photoelectrochemistry and solar energy conversion. Invited speakers, all recognized scientists from leading world institutions, had delivered lectures covering a wide range of topics on the fundamental principles of the conversion of solar energy into chemical and electrical energy as well as the physical and technical challenges.

INSPIRE fellow (DST) - PhD Researcher

Jan 2015Jan 2020 · 5 yrs · Surat Area, India

  • PhD title: Investigations on lead-free perovskites based thin-films and their degradation for solar photovoltaic applications
  • Supervisor: Dr. Vipul Kheraj
  • Funding agency: Department of Science and Technology (DST), India
  • Research description:
  • My PhD thesis mainly discusses about the variation in photoluminescence (PL) and X-ray diffraction (XRD) yield of lead and lead-free perovskite thin films kept under different environmental conditions over a period of days.
  • Methyl ammonium lead iodide (CH3NH3PbI3) thin films were optimized and fabricated. A systematic investigation was performed on illumination and air-exposure induced degradation of these thin films using XRD, TRPL and PL.
  • An ab-initio numerical simulation of lead and lead-free perovskite solar cell was performed using SCAPS-1D software. The effect of thickness and defect density of absorber material on efficiency were analyzed. Further, the influence of various types of hole transporting material (HTM) were compared to optimize the efficiency.
  • The degradation of inorganic cesium tin iodide (CsSnI3) thin films with time under four different environmental conditions was investigated. The films were characterized by XRD and PL to evaluate the structural and optical properties. Sn based perovskite solar cells were fabricated and J-V characteristics and stability test were performed.

Summer Internship

May 2011Jul 2011 · 2 mos · Ahmedabad Area, India

  • Supervisor: Prof. Anjan Joshipura
  • Funding agency: Indian Academy of Sciences (IAS) Fellowship
  • Research description:
  • Involved theoretical study and included the overview of Standard model, quark model, details of other particles, sub-atomic particles and elementary particles and also the physics governing them, starting from Rutherford's splitting experiment to Higgs Boson.
  • The project also dealt with the basic understanding of the LHC's working. A short and intense study of accelerators was undertaken, to get a grip of the overall concept of inclusion and need of High Energy.
