• My clinical practice is focused on adult spine and orthopaedic surgery.

• The Orthopaedic Rapid Intelligent Fabrication group was founded by Drs. Alexis and Alan Dang at UCSF and the San Francisco VA Health Center to develop and accelerate clinical development of orthopaedic surgical innovations, tools, and devices. The group leverages their clinical expertise as surgeons along with a strong technological background in software and hardware. The group has developed a vertically-integrated service for clinical printing of Precision Anatomic Models for the orthopaedic surgeons at UCSF and its affiliate training hospitals and oversees a small fleet of FDM printers with customized hardware and firmware. Active projects also include development of technologies for Augmented Surgical Vision in collaboration with UCSF Surgical Innovations (UCSF Department of Surgery).

• My area of expertise include CPUs, GPUs, mobile computing, and computing security in the field of healthcare information science and computational biomechanics.

• Led by Drs. Mark Ratcliffe and Julius Guccione, the UCSF Cardiac Biomechanics Lab applies mechanical engineering principles in conjunction with cardiac biology research to develop and analyze the treatment of cardiac disease. The lab is widely considered the leading center for computational modeling of heart failure and heart failure devices in the world.
• At CBL, I reported directly to Drs. Ratcliffe and Guccione and successfully published two first-author papers in the Annals of Thoracic Surgery and the American Journal of Physiology - Heart and Circulation. The project was supported by three National Institutes of Health R01 grants (5R01-HL-063348-03, HL-63954, and HL-71137) and National Biomedical Computation Resource PA1-RR-08605.
• I also am a consultant with NIH R01 HL77921, "Virtual Tools for Cardiac Ventricular Remodeling Surgery".

• Stanford University Medical Media and Information Technology (SUMMIT) group, active from 1990 to 2008, was dedicated to putting Stanford University at the forefront of medical and lifesciences education through the innovative use of information technology.
• I was recruited to SUMMIT by Amy Ladd, MD, Head of Outreach, for work on the Media Server Project (2000-2001) and Media Server 2.0 Project (2005). It was a SQL-driven media database and presentation platform.

• Originally founded by serial entrepreneur Dennis Fong (Ratpr, Xfire, Lithium, Gamers.com) in 1998, FiringSquad was an independent online publisher focused on editorial coverage of consumer 3D graphics technology and high performance computing and gaming. The site was spun-off from GX Media in 2002 and became FiringSquad.com until its closure in 2010.
• The most notable article I wrote for FiringSquad was the report on the NVIDIA NV2 in 2001.
