Prateek studies how atypical people and groups at the fringes are often the principal agents of innovation and social progress. He is the author of Atypical: Five Strategy Rules for a New World (Westland), and is writing a follow-up book on the history of progress. He delivers talks internationally, and his work is regularly featured in global media outlets, including All India Radio, Bloomberg, Forbes, Indian Express and Times of India. He writes on social issues like health access, LGBT rights, and hate speech, and advocates for public goods capitalism through universal basic wealth. Prateek co-founded Project Chhaav, which provided healthcare kits to over 120,000 Indian rural health workers during COVID-19, and the Action to Improve Representation Collective, which supports underrepresented scholars in management. Education and background: Prateek grew up in Dhanbad, India, and holds a BTech from IIT Delhi and an MRes and a PhD in Management from UCL. During his PhD, he was a visiting researcher at the Kellogg School of Management and the Chicago Booth and taught at the LSE. His doctoral thesis explored the historical evolution of institutions like caste and merchant guilds.
