I am blessed to have had an amazing journey of life thus far. Grew up in a humble middle class family as the eldest child in the clan. Chose Engineering over Medical science purely because it seemed like the lesser evil from the available options then! Fortunate to have had opportunities that let me spend time in USA and Australia, studying and working! Thoroughly enjoyed working with multi-lingual, multi-cultural teams across the globe. In Sydney, after finishing business school, made a choice to follow my heart and took up a career in Executive Search despite some very strong resistance (within and outside)! After 3 very exciting years in executive search, moved to the corporate world in HR roles, primarily focused on TA. In the first 5 years of corporate HR life, I built and nurtured teams, worked with some of the sharpest minds, traveled the country, hired 1000s of professionals, recruited from a vast variety of universities in India, led the charter for employer branding & candidate experience. Last 6 years in corporate HR: worked with one of the best HR teams to drive an exciting transformation journey for Cipla. In midst of Covid, took up a generalist role to head HR for couple of BUs and corporate functions globally. After 3 years in the HR generalist role and 5+ years at Cipla, decided to take a break in Jan' 23 to spend time with parents, detox from the corporate world and to think about my next professional journey! Considered many options: said no to some lucrative and well paying roles, was rejected for some as well. Went through many highs and lows in 6 months but kept my head high, smile intact and decided not to compromise in what I do next. I looked back at my career and thought of the happiest days. Executive Search came to mind and then I thought of all the leaders I have hired over the last 15 years and all the search consultants that I look up to. It became clear to me that I wanted to bring search back to my life and also this time it had to be a boutique/ specialized practice to add value to clients. HR leadership hiring is nuanced specialty and one of the toughest, but I have had the great opportunity and pleasure of building world class HR teams for many organizations. This led me to found 88forty8 consulting, a niche executive search firm dedicated to hiring HR leadership talent! So, for now, Entrepreneur somehow! :)
