  • At CleverTap, I worked with more than 50 Digital First brands to engage and retain their end users. My work began once the Sales team closed the business deal and the Tech team completed product integration.
  • As CleverTap is a feature rich SaaS platform, my work began with onboarding the account and familiarizing the product/marketing/growth teams with all the tools available at their disposal. For this I had to be the product expert and explain the features according to relevant business context. For example, the same segmentation engine can be used by an e-commerce business and an OTT player differently. An e-commerce business would like to find out ‘how many users in Mumbai had AOV more than INR 300 in last month’ whereas an OTT player might be interested to query ‘how many users have watch time less than 60 minutes in the last week’. My job was to explain the features in a language that the particular business understood.
  • Next, I worked with the client’s Marketing or Growth teams to understand their Engagement & Retention KPIs and create a comprehensive plan to achieve it via CleverTap. This process began with Event Design. Any action that a user takes on a website/app is called an Event. My job was to go through the user journey and track all the user events that can be recorded on CleverTap. This exercise was useful for two reasons. First, more detailed Event Design leads to a comprehensive understanding of User journey within the app. Second, finer segmentation can be done with a richer understanding on what the user is doing or not doing on the app. Next step was to capture relevant information on Users and store them in a way that can be used for personalisation. For example, for an OTT platform, it is relevant to capture the genre of last watched content. For a FinTech platform, it is relevant to capture the category of last purchase. I worked with clients and CleverTap’s tech team to make sure this information is captured as User Properties.
