• At the age of 19, I ran my own Everest Franchise. I was told at the time that I was the youngest to do this. 90% of his job was generating new business by cold calling [door to door] customers with a view to selling them a range of home improvement products. A pure commission-only business. I must have had thousands of nos and doors closed in my face. This proved to be one of those more formative experiences. I went on to hit ambitious sales targets, but it took many nos.
