About

Sudipta Bhattacharya is the Chief Transformation Officer of the Adani Group and CEO of Adani North America. With the Adani Group pulling in $40 billion in revenue and a $200 billion market cap - half the job is nodding wisely to live up to his job description that includes - New Growth Initiatives, International Business Development, Strategic Technology Partnerships, Building the Cyber and the AI businesses, and Senior-Level Talent Acquisition. His beliefs! Linear - extinct. Exponential - supreme. Smashing AI and Operations Research together - because why not? Renewable Energy? Oh yes. Data Centers? Obviously. Sovereign Clouds? Inevitable. Industry Clouds? Raining disruption. Industrial AI? Multi Trillions!! Narratives? Essential. Because from chaos emerges compelling storylines. Prior to this role, Sudipta held other roles at the Adani Group as Chief Technology Officer, Head of Corporate Comms, CEO of Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone, and Chief Strategy Officer. Before Adani, he was CEO of Invensys’ Controls and Automation businesses, where he merged four profit making divisions, sprinkling in a few renamings, and keeping an army of consultants well-fed on billable hours. The pièce de résistance? Schneider Electric swooped in with a $5.2 billion check, proving once again that the fastest way to corporate glory is not innovation or efficiency, but making things so convoluted that a bigger company pays a premium just to untangle the mess. Sudipta’s early career included a 6 year stint at SAP, where he was a Sr. VP of products responsible for Supply Chain, Manufacturing, and Engineering. In the good old nineties, as a Chemical Engineer, he managed plant operations and supply chains at Tata Chemicals and Tata Rallis India Limited. This was when work was about actually making things - instead of making powerpoints about making things. Sudipta’s industry contributions sound pompous. Board Member of Singapore's Research, Entrepreneurship & Innovation Council, Vice Chairman of the Manufacturing Execution Standards Association, Chair of the Dallas Regional Chamber’s Technology and Innovation Council, Advisory Board Member for UT Dallas’ Center for Supply Networks, and finalist at an E&Y Entrepreneur of the Year - though he suspects some of these were handed out mainly because the events needed sponsors.  Most of all Sudipta enjoys the little big things in life: writing, singing, traveling, and, best of all, when a meeting gets canceled at the last minute - take a power nap - something people from his state of West Bengal are known to excel at!
