Inditex

Distribution Director (Zara Man South)

Nov 2013Jan 2022 · 8 yrs 2 mos · A Coruña, Galicia, Spain

  • I moved from Barcelona to the small rainy city of Coruña back in 2013. I had the great luck of being a member of the Distribution department, which is the backbone of Zara’s commercial decisions.
  • My first task was to update South Hemisphere. I changed the whole decision-taking about stock allocation improving efficiency and delivering 20% CAGR revenue growth for three years. As part of it, I re-organized projects, teams and systems. And I did as owner of every part of Zara’s Global Supply Chain.
  • Secondly, as Global Head of Menswear In-Store operations, I helped achieve 10% productivity gains in around 1M man-hours spent for deliveries and stockroom organization. As part of it, I visited the most relevant countries and stores worldwide and trained and coached local operation teams in 86 countries and 1800 stores.
  • Secondary Distribution centres were designed to enhance omnichannel strategy and I helped, together with big-data scientists, define and implement the algorithmic model that resulted in less than 20% stock across the distribution chain of online and offline stores. After defining the first DC2, it was rolled out up to 25 centres in the largest cities in the world.
  • After that, I optimized the way new lines are delivered to stores. Zara delivers twice a week to its 1800+ stores worldwide and new lines have to be carefully selected by a group of up to 60 people to hit customer needs and optimal stock performance. The task rationalisation resulted in -15% less time spent by stakeholders and stock optimization implied using -5% stock, -10% rotation while increasing sales by 5%.
  • Finally, as South hemisphere Distribution Director, I established the department’s strategy and monitored weekly objectives for buyers, product managers, distribution controllers, distribution centres and transport

Mango

Commercial Controller (Mango Man)

Jan 2012May 2013 · 1 yr 4 mos · Barcelona Area, Spain

  • Started back in 2012 when Mango had decided to create a new section for Menswear. At that time Mango Man was a small business unit of around 15 people who designed, purchased and delivered to stores. I helped menswear to define its numerical approach.
  • As part of it, I translated business objectives into targets by store and product requirements in terms of how many units were needed of shirts, shorts or suits.
  • For a great deal of my time, I travelled to help and understand local needs and to assess whether new locations were apt for opening profitable stores.
  • Additionally, I managed the franchisee sales for South-East Asia and Latin America.
