After more than 30 years in the Australian road transport industry, I’ve come to realise that real progress doesn’t just come from new laws or technology — it comes from people who understand how to put those changes into practice. I started my career behind the wheel and worked my way through the industry as an owner-driver, operations manager, compliance specialist, and auditor. That experience taught me that compliance isn’t about paperwork — it’s about people, culture, and practical systems that actually work in the real world. I’ve recently stepped away from my role as Director of Industry Engagement and Customer Success at Hubfleet, but continue to support the platform as an ambassador, because I’ve seen firsthand how digital systems can transform safety and compliance for operators of all sizes. My main focus now is my business, Transport Health and Safety, where I provide auditing, compliance consulting, and system implementation services for operators looking to build strong, risk-based compliance systems. As a registered NHVAS, WAHVA, AMCAS, and CLOCS-A auditor, I help businesses develop and maintain programs that meet and exceed national standards, from Safety Management Systems to fatigue, mass, and maintenance management. I’ve also been getting back to my roots — spending time where I still love to be, behind the wheel of a truck heading to another state. It keeps me connected to the realities of the job and reminds me why practical, workable compliance systems matter so much. I also serve as President of the National Road Freighters Association (NRFA), representing drivers, owner-operators, and small fleets in national reform discussions. Our mission is simple — to build a safer, fairer, and more sustainable transport industry by setting meaningful minimum standards. As a TruckSafe Board Member, I continue working to align accreditation, risk management, and real-world outcomes, ensuring operators are recognised for doing the right thing.
