• Set up a for profit social enterprise with a vision to extend affordable, high quality and comprehensive eyecare to the underserved and low income population. This involved setting up Static Vision Centres (VCs) in rural and remote locations and having Mobile Eyecare Facility, run by trained Optometrists, offering vision test, refraction, affordable spectacles, clinical examination for key vision issues/diseases and retinal examination for advanced issues along with online consultation opportunity with partner Ophthalmologists in Tier 2 Eye Care facilities. This also involved offering high quality affordable surgical support based on the requirement at competent and credible partner Eyecare Facilities.
• In addion to this, the enterprise also targeted community segments which were at high risk for vision issues but were not exposed to organized eye screenings e.g. Factory Workers, Students in low income private schools, members of Micro Finance Institutions, Farm Workers, Artisans, Diabetes and Hypertension Patients, and Drivers etc. This was done through a combination of free and paid screening facility linked to nearest VC.

• Social Healthcare Trust (SHT) came into existence to reduce preventable vision loss for the underprivileged population targeting underserved regions through research, designing and piloting eye health initiatives and on field implementation in partnership with the Govt.. SHT played an instrumental role in helping launch UP's first Urban Eye Health Initiative in partnership with NUHM and a global Charity.

• Working with the founder, Anurag played an important role in raising CSR and Philanthropic funding from corporates (CISCO, Sapient,RBL) and foundations (Tata Trusts, Social Venture Partners (SVP)) and developing meaningful partnerships (Biocon Foundation, HDFC Bank & HSBC). He also helped initiate multiple threads and developed pipeline of potential funding from a variety of corporations and philanthropic institutions including soft loan/grant from National Skills Development Corporation (NSDC). During this engagement, he also managed relationship with corporations (Mphasis, Paytm, Inmobi, Axis), Tata Trusts and development organizations (Rang de, Milaap).

• Anurag led the implementation of some of the key development programs- in their formative (0 to1) stages- including a partnership with Clinton Foundation to develop Cashew Apple Value Chain, an urban slum Youth Employability initiative supported by JP Morgan, which evolved into a major initiative for TechnoServe later, a Women Entrepreneurship Development program supported by Blackstone, Farmer Producer Organizations' (FPOs) capacity building initiative supported by HIVOS and IFC, a study to identify investable Agribusiness opportunities supported by the World Bank, a muti-state Dairy development initiative supported by BMGF/BAIF and an Economic development initiative (skilling and entrepreneurship) for Tibetans in India and Nepal supported by USAID. He also played an intrumental role in leading the business development team and contributing to fundraising efforts to develop new partnerships and design interventions with Syngenta, GIZ, Blackstone, IFC, Cargill, USAID, MCQD/HUL and JP Morgan. He was also instrumental in designing a Public Private Partnership (PPP) initiative for the Clinton Foundation (The Clinton Giustra Enterprise Partnership (CGEP)) funded entity and Agriculture department of Maharashtra Government.

• Anurag joined InI Consulting – a start up in Technology, Agribusiness and India Entry Strategy- as a consultant where he managed various consulting and implementation assignments serving Department of Science & Technology, IIT Kanpur, Indian Railways, Swiss investors, Deepak Fertilizers, Ag investors and other business houses. He was also instrumental in a turn-around assignment to develop India’s first Banana Export Venture (Desai Fruits & Vegetables) which involved Swiss investors, Gujarati Farmers and Pilipino Technology providers. He moved on as a Vice President six years later to pursue his interest in the development space.
