In one of his recent implementation-focused assignment as the Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Jagriti Enterprise Centre - Purvanchal (JEC-P), Anurag helped build a thriving regional incubation & innovation ecosystem for entrepreneurs (Innovative Startups, FPOs, Grassroots Enterprises, FMCG players, Handicrafts based enterprises) from Tier 2/3 districts with an early focus on Eastern UP. He also activated the Innovation engine and associated support ecosystems for Centres of Excellence (CoEs) from scratch: Bioregional CoE (Environmental Sustainability), Agro CoE, Handicrafts CoE & Digital CoE etc. He also led critical fundraises. Anurag started his career with PwC & then he joined a boutique strategy consulting startup (InI Consulting) in Mumbai where he also got an incredible opportunity, under the founders, to contribute to building India's first Banana Export Venture (backed by Swiss Investors) in Gujarat, leveraging Technology from Philippines. After 6 years, he left as VP of consulting practice. Anurag joined Impact Sector in early 2012. He spent 5 years with TechnoServe (a global nonprofit) & The/Nudge collectively in senior roles before moving on to a build an eyecare initiative (rated as one of the top 30 social Initiatives from India by N/Core Alpha in 2017) in Uttar Pradesh with support from a global charity Sightsavers & a Technology Business Incubator. This was aimed at offering affordable eye health services to underserved/low income population.

This also involved offering high quality affordable surgical support based on the requirement at competent and credible partner Eyecare Facilities.
  • In addion to this, the enterprise also targeted community segments which were at high risk for vision issues but were not exposed to organized eye screenings e.g. Factory Workers, Students in low income private schools, members of Micro Finance Institutions, Farm Workers, Artisans, Diabetes and Hypertension Patients, and Drivers etc. This was done through a combination of free and paid screening facility linked to nearest VC.
