  • Supported research and provided the international team’s opinion on strategic projects for the Vice Chairman / CEO’s office like eWTP (Malaysia, project by Alibaba B2B), Eastern Economic Corridor (Thailand, project by Lazada), Alipay’s investments in SE Asia - Dana, Gcash, etc.
  • In this role, I reported to the Global MD who was responsible for Asia and North America, who worked very closely with the founders and CXOs at Alibaba.

  • Post its IPO in 2014, Alibaba made international expansion and business diversification beyond their core marketplaces (Tmall, Taobao, etc.) a strategic priority. A new international team was constituted towards end of 2015 to drive market entry across South and SouthEast Asia, Middle East, Europe, USA and LatAm.
  • As a post-MBA associate, my role was to support 3 Directors - Investments, Operations and Partnerships on a charter comprising - (a) evaluating market landscape and entry strategy comprising investments, partnerships or launch of greenfield operations, (b) working with businesses / investee companies to improve operations and PMO for board-level initiatives
  • Some of my high impact projects included -
  • Supported diligence and deal structuring on Alibaba’s $50mn investment ($35mn primary) in Xpressbees, major 3PL logistics player
  • Supported diligence on investment of Alibaba’s $200mn investment in Paytm Mall
  • Led the PMO for post investment integration and 100 day plan across product, category, hiring, tech, etc. leading to 3x jump in daily orders
