Leading the core platform engineering team which manages the backend for search & segmentation, distributed locking/rate limiting, user resolution, event processing & archival and distributed scheduling.
The core platform services power Blueshift's AI-based customer engagement/marketing platform providing it with functionalities like user resolution & profile unification, search, advanced user segmentation, scheduling hundreds of millions of sends, and centralized data streaming/queuing infrastructure processing 10s of billions of events daily. The search backend manages hundreds of TBs of search data spread across a petabyte of storage and thousands of computing cores.
ACCOMPLISHMENTS
Built the core data infrastructure backbone for the whole product. The main accomplishment was building a centralized queuing/data streaming infrastructure. The current system currently handles around 100TB of data per day. Billions of events are processed daily across 35k topics maintaining a sub 10ms latency SLA.
Completely revamped and rearchitected the search backend to improve the search and segmentation latencies significantly. 95p search and segmentation latency was reduced from a few minutes to under 3 seconds. The AWS cost for new search infrastructure was reduced by more than 70% resulting in XX% improvement in the overall COGS creating a significant impact on the company's business.
Created a backend for advanced user cohort reporting to show reports for different goals based on different user attributes on realtime basis.
Achieved significant reliability and quality improvements across the services helping the company to meet availability SLAs and provide a delightful customer experience.

I was part of the newly formed Druva Phoenix team and led several projects including VMware backup, client sync engine revamp, and instant restore in the cloud from concept to large-scale launch stages.
ACCOMPLISHMENTS
Did a major revamp of the client sync engine which included some redesign of the architecture and rewriting from Python to GoLang. The revamped sync engine was able to improve backup and restore speeds from a few GBs per hour to hundreds of GBs per hour via the cloud. The improvements included parallel file scan, intelligent client-side deduping, and smart scan for large NAS devices to improve scan speeds.
Led the feature of VMware instant restore from the cloud, allowing large VMs to be booted directly from cloud storage to a local VMware infrastructure. This allowed customers to recover their TB-size VMs within a minute and be able to access their data.
Created an automated merge system for GitLab infrastructure as part of the transition to git. The idea of this project was to have an automated system in place which will put every merge request through a set of tests and then merge the request based on approval from a pre-defined set of users and the result of the tests. The system had a significant impact to help maintain code quality with more than 100 developers contributing to the code.
