• Leading the Objective Content Quality Modeling team in News Feed Integrity to develop machine learning models and deploy the model to demote click-bait, engagement-bait, hateful and other low-quality content.
• Leading the effort of developing the DeepText system, a deep neural network system for text classification, now used by most Facebook text understanding products.
• Leading the effort of developing systems for User Content Understanding, major projects include PageSpace (a large-scale topic classification for social media), IDF-weighted document embedding, universal word embedding (words from different languages have similar embedding if their semantic meanings are close), hierarchical embedding hashing, GroupSpace (embed the interest and topic for each Facebook groups).
• Developed text classification systems for For-sale Post Detection, Hate Speech, Harassing Comment Detection, and Spam Comment Filtering for Instagram.
• Building the Facebook machine translation team, grew the team from three engineers to 18 in two years.
• Led the team to develop Facebook’s in-house machine translation system, serving translations for all Facebook text content.
