Victoria Bellotti — CTO
SPECIALTIES: User experience (UX) research, hands-on-research and science enthusiast. Experienced in the intersection of human experience and algorithms. Skilled in qualitative and quantitative methods, user-centered design and evaluation, strategic innovation, business development, information architectures, future tech conceptual design, consulting, commercial and government proposal writing, management of user experience research team, management of cross-disciplinary and remote/long-distance collaboration projects, author, public speaker, inventor, and occasional vocalist. I am a social scientist by training that works very well with engineers, especially those interested in analytics and context-aware computing. LATELY: I was a Principal Researcher at DoorDash focusing on a variety of projects, mostly in informing newer aspects of the business. RECENT FOCUS AT NETFLIX: In my second year at Netflix, I was the research lead for Netflix Tudum, the official site to find & fuel your fandom for the shows and movies you love. I ran innovation exercises and many tactical and strategic research studies which were critical in determining what features we have prioritized for Tudum, such as a logged in experience and integration with the Netflix platform. Before that, I focused on member messaging and ranking algorithms. My collaborators were Data Scientists, Engineers and Designers. We did a lot of fun projects together. FOCUS AT LYFT: I worked on the Growth team, helping develop packages that would create loyal customers. I also worked on Autonomous vehicles informing the tools and processes that enable AVs to be developed, researching safety, providing human factors consulting on safety driver information displays and controls, and AV rider research. PAST FOCUS AS A RESEARCH SCIENTIST: Rideshare, the peer economy (AKA sharing economy) and opportunities for innovation to turbocharge transactions, including persuasive computing, analytics and context-aware computing (from profile, history and current context) for ideal matches for transactions. I am fascinated by services that draw people in to act in the interest of others or the community at large, rather than just self-interest. I am known for my work on understanding personal information, task and activity management, especially when embedded in email. I also researched UX needs for mobile and ubiquitous computing, computer-supported cooperative work, computer-mediated communication and privacy. Some of this work is published and highly cited.
