Niharika Ray — Product Manager
My job? Thinking two steps ahead of a breach you’ll never hear about. Every choice I make protects someone who’ll never know my name and that’s the point. I get paid to make the hard calls early, before they turn into expensive problems. When a product is being pulled in ten directions, I build a decision frame that makes trade offs clear, choose the bet that matters, and cut the rest. I do the unglamorous work too. I listen to customers, read support threads, dig into data, and sit with engineers until the constraints are real. Then I write the narrative in plain language so teams can execute without confusion and ship products that survive first contact with reality. I care about craft, but I care more about trust. Trust that the product works when it counts. Trust that the roadmap is not a wish list. Trust that the team knows what good looks like. That means sweating edge cases, partnering tightly with engineering and design, and making smart trade offs without breaking the experience. I have a strong point of view on how good product work happens. It is not a brainstorm. It is a system. Clear writing before meetings. Specific definitions of success before roadmaps. Risks surfaced early, not explained later. Principles that guide decisions when data is incomplete. Feedback loops that improve the product without exhausting the team. I write and speak about the topics leaders quietly struggle with. Building a product narrative that aligns an organisation. Running discovery that reduces risk instead of collecting opinions. Making trade offs when every request is labeled critical. Creating a product culture that is calm, accountable, and customer obsessed without becoming chaotic. Outside of work, I keep my energy and curiosity sharp in a few consistent ways. You’ll usually find me at the gym, training for a marathon, practicing the piano, or getting lost in a good book. I believe in feeding that creative side. It’s that curiosity that fuels everything I do, both professionally and personally. If you’re passionate about building things that matter or just want to chat about books, tech, or the latest adventure. Shoot me a message. Let’s connect and share ideas!
