The Compute and Storage Infrastructure team in the Media Cloud Engineering group is in charge of the platform behind one of the world's largest video transcoding farms. We manage the secure storage of tens of petabytes of content, track file uploads in batches of 500k at a time, assign compute resources out of our farm of >10k EC2 instances and provide a media experimentation and development platform to our sister team of Video Encoding PhDs.
Taking advantage of the idle compute capacity that the Netflix Streaming team reserves to handle peak demand, managing the encryption keys for millions of media files, or designing the logging system that lets you find a single line in the output of tens of thousands of EC2 instances. All of this as part of a small team with shared ownership of all projects.
I also take special delight in learning language specs, chasing down obscure memory issues and intermittent OS interaction glitches. If your app is dying deep into a library with a LinkageError or you run into a memory leak inside the JVM, I'm the one who'll find the bug.
