• Randall is the founder of the Debezium open source change data capture (CDC) project and served as the project lead for the first 16 months. The Debezium project is building Kafka Connect connectors that are able to capture changes from a variety of source database management systems, and record them in Kafka topics.

• FRC Team 4931 is a team of 20+ students from multiple area high schools that participates in FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC). The team was founded in September 2013 and has competed in two official FIRST regional competitions where they won several awards. Randall volunteers as a coach and mentor for the team. During the competition season, Randall and the other adult mentors guide the team as students learn the season's game requirements, and then design, build, program, test, and prepare their robots for competition. During the off-season, Randall helps coordinate activities, identify and prepare training, arrange classroom and laboratory facilities, collaborate with other regional organizations for cooperative activities, and schedule outreach events at area schools and university, where students talk about their rewarding first-hand experiences with STEM.

ModeShape is a lightweight, fast, pluggable, open-source JCR repository that federates and unifies content from multiple systems, including files systems, databases, data grids, other repositories, etc.

• Randall served a number of roles at Red Hat. He is the founder and project lead of the ModeShape open source JCR project, and assisted in productization of ModeShape within the JBoss Data Virtualization (JDV) product. He helped identify strategies for moving several products into OpenShift. He also worked with and helped coordinate the integration with other data-oriented open source projects at JBoss, including Teiid, Infinispan and Hibernate OGM. Randall also worked on improving and expanding governance of services, data, rules and processes with the Guvnor open source project. Randall served on several standardization efforts, including the OASIS S-RAMP technical committee and the JSR-333 (aka "JCR 2.1") expert group.

The first product extracts semantic knowledge from existing information systems (e.g., databases and schemas), and then identifies the information that is similar based upon its meaning. Helped lead the design, development and support of these tools for a variety of government and corporate customers and partners.

I also helped design, implement and test the service-oriented computing platform used in several products, contributing to the planning and management of development activities. I worked with customers, evangelized, presented at conferences, and served as the company representative to the Object Management Group (OMG) international standards body.

• I was one of the architects and developers on a multi-lingual business application for reinsurance that was built on J2EE technology. I was responsible for the messaging infrastructure and server-side business components. I helped design the databases and object-relational mapping. Short tenure was due to a company shift away from Java technology.

• Created an application to rapidly size early aircraft designs using 3D geometric models and database of mass properties. Integrated the application into a rapid virtual prototype environment, using it on several projects, including the Joint Strike Fighter. I served as a task leader on $6M research program, and developed a new break-through modeling technique for smart structures. Performed neural network modeling of experimental acoustic data. McDonnell Douglas Corporate acquired by Boeing Corporation.
