Akshan Kumar — CEO
I’ve spent the last 15 years deliberately choosing the uncomfortable path. My career started where many finance careers begin - in statutory audit. It’s where I learned the discipline of financial rigor, line by line. You see how numbers actually behave when no one is trying to manage the story around them. That foundation stays with you. After that, I moved into industry. At Siemens, I worked in FP&A and performance controlling, evaluating projects ranging from €2M to €500M across Southeast Asia, India, Australia, and Europe. This wasn’t theoretical analysis. It was real capital allocation, real decisions, and real consequences. Later, at Innomotics, the role expanded. I was leading both accounting and business controlling while also acting as finance head for a digital business. The work shifted from analysis to ownership - fixing profitability leaks, rebuilding processes, improving forecasting, and making finance actually support the business rather than just report on it. That experience changed how I look at advisory work. Many finance consultants understand the frameworks. Fewer have sat in the chair where the month-end close is broken, the forecast is off, and the CFO wants answers by the next morning. I have. And that perspective shapes how I approach every engagement. Today, I work with CFOs and finance leaders on building finance functions that are ready for what’s coming next. That means rethinking operating models, embedding AI into finance workflows, and building managed services that scale without adding complexity. A few things I strongly believe: • Audit teaches you rigor • Industry teaches you reality • AI is redefining what both of those will look like in the future If you’re a CFO or finance leader thinking about what your finance function should look like in the next few years, I’d be interested to hear what challenges you’re working through.
