About

Growing up in Calcutta in the 80s, I was strangely fascinated by carpenters conjuring beautiful things out of plain wood. I remember spending many a lazy afternoon at my ancestral house, watching the kaarigar meditatively polish an old table or repair an old planter’s chair. I’ve always loved building things and that is what explains my diverse professional journey over the last 20 years. I began with management consulting out of b-school, moved to line functions and then a turnaround mandate in retail. Started a couple of companies including the first meat and seafood e-comm company (Brown Apron) in India. Couldn’t raise institutional money for Brown Apron, so went back to corporate life - headed Strategy and Program for Myntra before transitioning as COO for Barbeque Nation. Back to building now. Currently leading Product and Growth at Playo, the world’s largest sports based community - an idea and a business whose time has come. Also working on Shift Collective, a practice I co-founded, focused on storytelling and executive presence for business leaders.
