I am a Professor of Sustainable Development and an international civil servant with over two decades of experience in leveraging the power of science, technology and innovation (STI) for transforming lives and livelihoods. I work at the intersection of technologies and policies for strengthening their governance frameworks at the national, regional and global levels. Over the past two decades, I have had the privilege of traveling to, and working with development partners in over 35 countries in the Asia Pacific region and played a catalytic role in establishing several regional / global partnerships for the United Nations. I was also a core member of the team that managed the Australia-India Strategic Research Fund (AU$ 40 Million), an initiative by the Australian and Indian Governments to increase bilateral research collaborations between India and Australia. As a member of the Australian Government Delegation to the Joint S&T Committee & Joint Biotechnology Committee, I played a key role in the screening, selection and award of collaborative research projects between Australian and Indian scientists under the AISRF. During this period, I also had the privilege of preparing a report on Indian S&T sector for the Australain Prime Minister's Science, Engineering and Innovation Council (PMSEC). I have also coordinated the visit of Australian Chief Scientist, Jim Peacock to India in March 2007 for various bilateral meetings between Australia and India in the area of S&T cooperation.
