• My boss taught me PERL scripting in less than 60 minutes. This is when he made me understand the importance of domain areas like AI, NLP, Neural Networks, Capital Markets etc., than a specific programming language.
• My boss helped me write a program that produces a two line summary of a one page news article. It also automatically identifies the category of the news article like business, sports, politics.. etc., simply based on the frequency of relevant words in a sentence, in a paragraph and in the entire article. Pure joy looking at the results on the screen :-)

• MatchFixing is a Yahoo Group I created for matrimonial alliances. You get to view members matrimonial ads, post matrimonial ads, match based on the preferences and take it to the next step. This was during my college days. Some yahoo groups were more popular than websites those days.
• ProFoNet
• Ideated about a website which could be a network of all working IT professionals in India. Had seen a lot of my friends visiting IT companies for job interviews based on fake job postings and SMS forwards from friends. There had been a few cases where police lathi charged on the crowd who came for job interviews in huge numbers to IT companies based on fake job opening postings.
• This idea is to build a forum of working IT employees who could directly post the openings details on the website. The IT employee who posts the opening will be a verified employee of the IT company. Job seekers can simply join the website and view legitimate job postings.
• Other important feature is to capture working professionals approval rate. This came up because of the huge concern on fake profiles in the market. Colleagues at workplace can simply approve one others ProFoNet profile. This is for recruiters to ensure they are discussing and hiring an original profile.
• Interestingly, my PG owner Mr Sunil was ready to invest 10 lakhs. But this project wasn't started as I got an offer from TCS and was forced to take this offer. LinkedIn should have been from India with a diff name.
• InfinityMart.com
• This is during my initial months in TCS. I convinced four 4 minded colleagues to work on a Classified cum eCommerce portal. Infinitymart.com is the name of the website - we don't own the website now. Worked hard on weekends & evenings and launched a working website in OCT 2006. Internet penetration was poor those days and we didn't even renew our web domain after second year.
