• My project was “DRY SLIDING BEHAVIOR OF Ti-6Al-4V SLIDING AGAINST SS316L AT CONSTANT PRESSURE UNDER AMBIENT CONDITIONS AND EFFECT OF FLASH TEMPERATURE ON THE TRIBOLOGICAL PROPERTIES”. Titanium and its alloys exhibit a unique combination of mechanical, physical, and corrosion resistance properties which have made them desirable for critical application in aerospace industries, chemical industries and energy industries.
• However, due to low resistance to plastic shearing and low work hardening, titanium and titanium alloys generally exhibit poor fretting, wear resistance, and tribological properties even when sliding against softer materials. In this project wear and friction behavior of Ti-6Al-4V sliding against SS316L were studied at constant load, varying the speed and at constant speed, varying the load under ambient conditions, in vertical and horizontal setup and under vacuum conditions in vertical setup of Pin-on-disk tribometer.
