About

I am a motivated Ph.D. candidate at the University of North Texas. My research specializes in microstructure property correlation along with the design of process-specific Al alloys, with the primary goal of enhancing structural properties such as high temperature strength, strength-ductilioty synergy and strength-electrical conductivity synergy. I draw on the ICME approach to optimize the composition of Al alloys, and use selective additive manufacturing process to establish an understanding of the process-structure-properties-performance relationship. So far, I have worked on various Al alloy series including precipitation/ dispersion hardened Al alloys, Al metal matrix composites, Al covetic alloys (Al-C), and ODS-Al alloy and processes like friction stir processing, solidstir extrusion, and AFSD. In addition, I am involved in designing high-strength Al alloys particularly suited for fusion-based processes including LPBF and wire arc additive manufacturing (WAAM). I have developed 1 successful composition for WAAM. I have authored and co-authored 8 researches that have been published in highly reputed peer-reviewed journals. Technical Skills: 1) APT data reconstruction and analysis, and basic operations of the local electrode atom probe (LEAP). 2) Expert in TEM and APT sample preparation using dual-beam focused ion beam (FIB). 3) Hands-on with electron microscopy, including SEM/EDS/EBSD. 5) Ex-situ Nanoindentation testing 4) Mechanical characterizations: tensile testing, Vickers hardness, and Creep tests. 5) Methods of machining and cutting: EDM and CNC 6) Phase identification techniques, including XRD and Raman spectroscopy. Please feel free to reach out to me : aishanisharma@my.unt.edu. I welcome opportunities to engage in meaningful discussions, collaborations, and networking within the materials science and engineering community.
