  • 1. Meeting the requirements laid out by the Fiscal Responsibility and Budget Management Act, 2003. These include preparing the (i) Medium Term Fiscal Policy Statement; (ii) Fiscal Policy Strategy Statement; and (iii) Medium Term Economic Framework Statement; and cause them to be laid in Parliament alongside the Union Budget. In addition, I prepare the Half yearly Statements, Reviewing the trends in Receipts and Expenditure of the Union in relation to the Budget.
  • 2. I also manage the Ways and Means position of the Government of India in consultation with the RBI. This work involves monitoring the cash balance and debt position of the Union and actively managing both with the help of Buyback, Switch transactions and G-sec and T-bill issuances. I am deeply involved in the release of the borrowing calendar for longer dated G-Secs as well as the Quarterly Calendar for T-Bill issuances.
  • 3. I also manage 18 Demands for Grants, out of a total 102 Demands of the Union. These Demands pertain to the Union Territories, as well as the Ministry of Finance with the most important being the grants related to Repayment of Debt and Interest Payment.
