About

Co-founder & CEO of zystem, Inc., a startup that's on a mission to optimise GPU & CPU workloads. I possess strong dexterity in solving complex technical problems, driven by customer-centricity and constant innovation. My background stems from Software Engineering and Architecture. Prior to co-founding zystem, I was a Principal Product Lead at Elastic, where I worked primarily on eBPF-based observability products. I launched several products from zero to one and led the contribution of the eBPF Profiler to OpenTelemetry. Earlier in my career, I was acquired into Cisco through AppDynamics, and into Microsoft through Yammer. I hold an MBA in Data Analytics, an M.Sc. in Telecommunications Engineering, a B.Sc. in Computer Science, and I have acquired the following training and certifications (which I no longer use): - Certified Terraform Associate - Certified Kubernetes Application Developer (CKAD) - Google Cloud Platform Certified Architect - TOGAF (1 & 2) - Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate: Azure Cloud Platform - Sun Certified Java Programmer, and more

Elastic

Principal Product Manager

Aug 2022Sep 2024 · 2 yrs 1 mo · Greater London, England, United Kingdom

  • I worked on 4 key charters at Elastic:
  • Elastic Universal Profiling: I joined the Optimyze team shortly after their acquisition to lead the integration of Prodfiler into Elastic Observability. I rebranded it as Elastic Universal Profiling and, together with the team, grew the product from private beta to widespread adoption in GA. This resulted in healthy revenue and strong customer retention (stickiness factor). Once we achieved product-market fit, I led the team to open-source the eBPF-based profiling agent and donate it to OpenTelemetry, aligning with Elastic's broader OTel strategy.
  • Frictionless K8s Observability - Our research showed that using in-process bytecode instrumentation just to create a service map causes significant pain for SREs. To improve the mean-time to dopamine, I made a business case for leveraging eBPF's superpower to auto-discover L4 requests, meter L7 requests for RED metrics, and correlate these signals with profiling data. This automatically allows customers to drill down from a slow request in the service map to profiling stacktraces without changing a single line of code.
  • BI and Telemetry: I passionately advocated for addressing the lack of data impacting critical business & product decisions. Guess what? I got tasked with fixing it 😅! Assembling a data-loving team, we set a clear strategy and goal: "know our customers" by centralizing data insights, mining inferences, and identifying patterns. My role as PM was clear: paint a picture of the vision, why we should reach for it, and the steps to getting there; and give the team autonomy and the tools they need to get us to that vision.
  • Cloud Observability: I focused on simplifying the ingestion of logs, metrics, and traces from major cloud providers. My strategy prioritized an agentless, push-based approach, leveraging AWS Firehose, CloudWatch metrics, and GCP Dataflow. This initiative had a significant revenue impact, given the importance of logs to Elastic's business.
