  • Designed and implemented an application using Swing and Java 2D for displaying frame data and defects on IC wafers. The purpose of this application was that the user should be able to visualize the data captured by the wafer inspection device. The application allowed the user was able to zoom in/out of the wafer image and also choose to display frame properties with a mouse click. The image data was provided in a binary file, while all the control data was in XML. This application made extensive use of Java2D APIs.
  • Additionally, implemented various image processing algorithms in java for Kla-Tencor’s Algorithm’s group. The project involved designing and implementing various algorithms. The objective was to develop self-contained modular packages providing API for other modules to use. XML was used for data sharing.

Ikos systems

Senior Software Enggineer

Jun 1997Feb 2000 · 2 yrs 8 mos

  • Senior Software Engineer (May 1999 – Feb 2000)
  • Lead developer for developing a Java based IDE for VHDL programming based on Ikos' flagship VHDL simulator. The goal was to design and develop an Integrated Development Environment (IDE) on the lines of the present day PC based IDEs like VC++ and Visual Age for Java. VHDL programming involves a completely different debugging paradigm, as there is immense data to be viewed during debugging. Specifically the goal was to take a closer look at the data display mechanisms and come up with a faster solution. Was responsible for designing the user interface of the application. Lead a three-member team, which was responsible for developing custom components using Java Swing. Also defining a way to interact with a C++ based simulation engine. The design employed MVC architecture to abstract the AWT GUI, which was later replaced by Swing.
  • Software Engineer (June 1997 – May 1999)
  • Implement Virtual Software Processor (VSP) descriptions of popular microprocessors for Viewlogic Systems Inc. VSP's are used in HW/SW co-verification environment. Designed and implemented the VSP's for two microprocessors: Motorola's MC68060 and IDT's R5000. VSP is a software description of the microprocessor. VSP's interact with simulated hardware and user's software executable through a communication manager. Both projects involved the implementation of microprocessor models and the simulated hardware. Microprocessor models are written in C, while the simulated hardware code is written in VHDL and Verilog.
