My doorway into the real world of work-experience opened into a classroom. A blackboard, a piece of chalk, a duster and a room-full of innocent faces greeted me – their new “Little Teacher”. After 4 years of passionate teaching, I carried that passion into the semi-glamorous world of Travel, Tourism and Aviation industry to yet again hold an unsure hand, an adult hand this time, to correct an error and to pat on the back to see people grow. I spent 37 years in this industry with a short stint in Airlines Sales. My specialization was in transforming company profiles from consolidation and retail travel management to corporate travel management. Managing this evolution required championing critical growth hacks like leading process-reengineering and change management, resource planning, and my personal favourite - people management. My journey started with developing human talent and this always remained my core passion. This kept me closely involved in setting up HR processes, and in mentoring people for leadership roles. In March 2016, I retired as the COO of a Canadian franchised travel management company in India to follow the voice of my heart. It was time to broaden my spectrum beyond my team and share my learning with a larger audience. Today, I offer counselling through one to one personal sessions and offline workshops for students, working professionals and corporations. Some of my most loved topics are related to improving communication skills, enhancing employability skills, evaluating talent, setting goals and tracking progress. Since I had very limited time during my career to indulge in my hobby that was always close to my heart – Writing – I have taken to it now like fish takes to water. It has made my retirement extremely fulfilling. So far more than 40 Articles and above 200 Quotations written by me have been published and posted here on LinkedIn.
