Melissa Bond — UI Designer
I am a Research Fellow at the EPPI Centre (UCL) and the National Institute of Teaching. My research focuses in particular on digital learning (especially AI applications in education and blended learning) and digital evidence synthesis tools, as well as how evidence synthesis can build research skills, provide guidance to both policy and practice, and identify key research gaps. I'm a member of the Center for Open Education Research, a founding editorial board member of the Nordic Journal of Systematic Reviews in Education, a member of the International Advisory Board for the International Journal of Educational Technology in Higher Education, and Co-Editor-in-Chief of the Review of Education journal. I studied a Bachelor of International Studies, Diploma in Languages (German) and a Graduate Diploma in Education (Secondary) at the University of Adelaide, a Graduate Certificate in eLearning through the University of New England and a Master of Education from the University of Adelaide. I defended my PhD in 2020, receiving Magna cum Laude. Prior to my roles in higher education, I taught German across Years 7 - 12 at Clare High School (South Australia) for 10 years, as well as Humanities, English, Information Publishing and Processing, Music and Drama. I was also Year 8 Coordinator, Humanities Coordinator and Languages Coordinator for two years, and Acting ICT Coordinator for 2 months. I was a Professional Learning Facilitator with the Goethe-Institut from 2008-2016 and presented at many state, national and international conferences. I have a particular interest in student engagement, blended, hybrid and online learning, and the use of educational technology in the classroom.
