• Developed Scalable East-West Traffic Automation Framework to calculate Performance Statistics in OpenStack Cloud.
• Launching virtual machines manually, starting a traffic generator (server and client) to monitor Performance Statistics can be a tedious task. Hence, this Automation Framework was designed and implemented to overcome this problem.
• Software Ingredients included CentOS 6.5, OpenStack Mitaka and traffic generators Iperf, NetPerf and TRex.
• Tools Included Eclipse IDE with Maven Dependency, Java 1.8, OpenStack Library JClouds
• The results of the test is stored in a database (MariaDB) which can be viewed at any point of time.
• The Performance Statistics include Throughput, Utilization, Latency, Number of Packets sent, Number of Packets received etc.
• One of the advantages of the framework is Scalability. Multiple VM's (Client-Server pairs) can be launched at the same time and Performance of the whole cloud can be tested in this situation.
• With the Scalability Tests, we can identify at what point the performance of the cloud gets saturated and starts to degrade.
