For the past decade, I've been solving the hard problems in video delivery—the kind that keep platforms running smoothly when millions of people hit play at once. I've worked across the entire stack: from set-top boxes in living rooms to cloud infrastructure powering global streaming services. Right now at Irdeto, I architect end-to-end video solutions for streaming platforms. I work directly with clients—running discovery sessions, designing systems, and making sure everything from DRM to ad insertion actually works in production. I own the player architecture piece independently, which means when something breaks at 2 AM, I know exactly where to look. What I'm good at: The technical stuff—building secure streaming platforms with multi-DRM (I'm Widevine certified), implementing SSAI/CSAI with MediaTailor, optimizing playback performance until Conviva metrics look good, and architecting players that work across web, mobile, and TV. I also led development of Android TV launchers and integrated analytics platforms like ThinkAnalytics, GTM, and CleverTap. The people stuff—I led 23 engineers at MultiChoice Africa building the DStv Ultra and next-gen set-top boxes. We integrated Netflix and Prime Video into traditional broadcast platforms, which taught me a lot about bridging old and new technologies while keeping teams aligned. The business stuff—I genuinely enjoy client workshops and turning messy requirements into clean architectures. The best solutions come from understanding both the technical constraints and what the business actually needs. Before Irdeto, I spent 6 years in Johannesburg with MultiChoice, where we built decoders used by millions across Africa. That experience—working at consumer scale with real users in emerging markets—shaped how I think about reliability and performance. I work with AWS, Spring Boot, Kotlin, TypeScript, and various video protocols and DRM systems. But honestly, the tech stack matters less than solving the right problems.
