Recognized as one of the 100 philanthropist of Indian origin from across the globe (https://lnkd.in/ebCk7PFh) who have made a significant impact with their philanthropic contributions and engagement, Raj G. Asava is the co-founder of the HungerMitao (means, wipe-out hunger) movement that has enabled over 80 million nutritious meals for Feeding America network of Food Banks. Raj and his team of passionate hunger fighters have scaled this movement to multiple food banks across the United States and shared this unique 100% volunteer driven model with other communities and countries. Born and raised in India, with over four decades of work experience in the United States, Raj was the Chief Strategy Officer at Perot Systems. He worked in senior/executive ranks for leading organizations such as Dell, PricewaterhouseCoopers, Electronic Data Systems (EDS), General Motors, Chrysler Corporation, Computer Task Group, and held the position of President at two start-up organizations. A Harvard Business School case study highlighted his work at EDS where he led the Plano-based company to quickly establish an Information Technology solution center in India, and rapidly grow it into an integral part of the company’s global delivery organization. Raj is an alumnus of the Central Michigan University and holds management program certificates from Thunderbird American Graduate School of International Management, and the Harvard Business School Publishing/Universitas 21 Global, a Singapore-based Online Graduate School. A Plano, Texas resident, Raj firmly believes that a human life is best lived in three stages: Learning, Earning and Returning, and calls it his Life Mantra. He authored this concept in an introduction titled, “Life Mantra” for the best seller book, “Creating Your Legacy” (https://tinyurl.com/LER-Article). Currently in his Giving stage, Raj channels his time and resources in a focused manner to causes related to food insecurity, children’s advocacy, education, and mentoring the next generation.

  • Raj was Vice President at Dell, responsible for the creation and launch of the strategy consulting practice. During the early stages of this practice Raj led the engagement to develop the strategy for the office of the CIO of a key Government agency. This engagement helped the stakeholders gel as a team and enabled the co-authoring of a unified strategic direction around which the entire organization rallied. As a result of this process, participants gained full visibility into their enterprise model and value chain, and exposed critical gaps that were addressed through recalibration of initiatives and programs. This engagement resulted in tremendous appreciation from the customer and references to peer groups across the agency. On another internal engagement, Raj led the Dell Services team in discussion with the CIO office to ensure the enterprise IT systems were poised to accommodate the cradle to grave requirements of the next generation solutions being created.
  • During the early days of the Dell/Perot integration, Raj led the development of an integrated strategy for the newly formed Dell Services. As a member of the Dell-Perot integration office, Raj took the lead in merging corporate initiatives such as Sustainability, Employee Resource Groups, and was the corporate champion for the 2010 American Heart Association HeartWalk.
