• Part of the Consumer Payments organisation that supports Payments as a platform. Leading the effort to improve Reliability of payments and improving the architecture to support 1 trillion dollar money platform.
• Defined a technical strategy to be executed in 2020 to achieve 4 nines of Availability covering key risks and optimizations across the 10+ platform components. This involves a fallback for payment processing system, (which would automatically kick-in the event of an internal or external payments outage), best practices adoption across 20+ partner teams and reduction of outage duration through anomaly detection across the entire decoupled architecture.
• Data Localization: Defined technical strategy for Payments to adhere to RBI regulations while enabling Amazon to move their critical data (Credit Cards) from their internal secure zone to Public Cloud i.e. AWS Lumos, a new offering that supports storage and transmission of critical data on the Cloud. Delivered the ability for Amazon’s Wallet to support asynchronous copy over of 170M credit cards hosted in Dublin to Bombay during payment transaction processing. Once launched, reduced impact of latency regression caused by storage in BOM by 100 ms through transient storage of data in Dublin.
• Bank of Amazon: Technical lead for Balance Tracker Service i.e. the Bank of Amazon which supports generic ledger like functionality to support use cases for Amazon Pay Balance (45M transactions a day), Seller Services (Disbursements to external sellers – 70M transactions a day) and JPPoints (Points Platform which supports burst traffic of up-to 12K TPS).

• Worked on Scan and Pay Japan and Improving Availability of the Amazon Pay Platform.
• Enhanced a client side fallback that used a static ML model to optimistically fulfill a transaction in case authorization was not approved within 7 seconds. This improved overall availability from 99.9% to 99.97%.

• Working on Amazon Pay Country Expansion. Amazon Pay is a next generation payments solution to allow any merchant to use Amazon Account as a means to purchase items online.
• Delivered a technical strategy and architecture on how to accelerate launches by reduction of work done in Refunds and A-Z claims team by 50 weeks per year. Bridged gaps in multiple teams in Amazon for supporting country expansion to FR, IT and ES. This involved reducing touch-points in 10+ components across Fraud, Chargeback, and Seller Central platforms which reduced country expansion effort by 60% (9 months to 2 months).

• Delivered a single page checkout experience for the earlier version of Amazon Pay launched in India for 3rd party merchants. This allowed a reduction of abandonment of customers by 10%.

• Delivered reverse-logistics and return label printing capabilities for the Retail Business. Delivered Return Transportation Service which migrated key functionality from legacy monolithic service into key APIs. Once launched, this capability was integrated as a library into the Amazon Fulfillment systems in order to print the return label address on each item that Amazon delivers to customer.
