  • o Summer internship at NCHU was research-based focused on the topic ‘Simulation of Fluid Catalytic Cracking (FCC) Unit using ASPEN HYSYS’ under the guidance of Prof. Vincentius Surya Kurnia Adi.
  • o My work describes the model of FCC in ASPEN HYSYS that can simulate the behavior of FCC close to real work conditions. The FCC models mainly consist of riser, stripper, reactor, and regenerator. The typical data in a refinery is adopted, in which few changes were made in order to achieve proper simulation.
  • o A sensitivity analysis is carried on parameters of interest i.e., pressure difference between regenerator and reactor, catalyst heat capacity, feed temperature, to determine the correlation that affects the FCC performance (mole-fraction of Butane is used to measure the performance).
  • o The results of simulation predict the parameters which are more sensitive towards the performance of FCC, for example, the performance of FCC is more sensitive to change in heat capacity of catalyst as compared to feed temperature.

  • o During the internship at NSYSU, Taiwan, I worked with the Research and Development department of PANJIT International Inc. under the guidance of Dr. T.K. Lee.
  • o PANJIT self-design produces the wafer and manufacture their wide range of semiconductor products. The job assigned was to put those power devices into real-life situations (operating conditions) using ANSYS simulation and test the rigidity and flexibility of the product and then suggest the required change in the design of the product according to results.
  • o We simulated nearly 42 different products of PANJIT and analyzed their structure using ANSYS.
