About

Some problems look technical but aren't. I saw this early in management consulting. The answer to most structural problems wasn't another framework. It was usually a decision that kept getting deferred, or a conversation that hadn't happened yet. I saw it again, more specifically, running Performance and Rewards through two major mergers. You can build the most technically correct framework in the room. The right grades. The right bands. The right rationale. It still fails if people don't believe it's fair or don't trust the people delivering it. Beyond a point, reward isn't a design problem. It's a credibility problem. That tends to stay with you. Today, I am COO for HR Operations at one of the largest banks in the Middle East, spanning HR technology, data, governance, and workforce at scale. The work is straightforward to describe and hard to get right. Build systems that scale. Keep things fair. Keep things moving. Fix what breaks before it becomes visible. Along the way, you start noticing patterns. How decisions are really made. How meetings drift. How confidence often arrives before accuracy. I write occasionally about these. Not advice. Not frameworks. Just things most people see, but don't say out loud.
