  • With the new role assignment I moved to the Monitoring-as-a-Service team. The key areas of work included:
  • 1. Key Automation efforts to facilitate seamless onboarding to the monitoring platform. This was used by 80+ applications spanning over 500+ servers across platforms (AWS, OCI, On-Premise) saving well over 10 hours of manual work per week.
  • 2. Lead the effort to design and build an Auto-Remediation framework to enable self-healing for infrastructure and applications, embarking a major step forward towards enterprise adoption of AIOPS. In the first 50 days, the framework was widely adopted across the organization with 6500+ (99.8 %) successful remediations resulting in $9.5K savings.
  • 3. Huge migration efforts for switching to a single monitoring platform. Some of the key highlights are listed below.
  • a. Developing an end to end integration for ServiceNow ticket generation using New Relic. This was one of the key features to enabled during the migration and was extensively used across 150+ portfolio teams in Verizon.
  • b. A custom framework built to provide integration between AWS Trusted Advisor and New relic to enable service limits monitoring for all the AWS Services.
  • c. Multiple CICD and infrastructure automation to reduce manual toil and implement security measures, enhanced functionalities, etc. for ensuring enterprise readiness of the tool.
  • 4. Developed a full-stack POC for proactive monitoring and remediation of applications leveraging Machine Learning techniques through AWS Sagemaker. The findings from the POC revealed an astounding success rate of 93.8% in predicting an outage for a given system at a given time.

The framework was pivotal in optimizing AWS resource’s usage and resulted in $7K savings per month. Soon after, the tool also became a security standard to enforce security guidelines on the AWS resources across the organization.
  • 5. Automation efforts involved behind DevOps Cup which was focused on cloud cost reductions and efficient cloud service usage. It proved to be quite successful and resulted in $17.9K savings overall.
