About

I'm a writer and content strategist with deep expertise in digital media. My technology and business writing has appeared in a wide range of outlets. My stories have been mentioned in The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, CIO Journal, and other publications. My InformationWeek.com on ageism in the tech industry, "Are You Too Old For IT?," won an Azbee Award from the American Society of Business Publication Editors (ASBPE), and I'm a former Community Choice honoree in the Small Business Influencer Awards. In the corporate world, I've worked for startups and Fortune 500 firms -- as well as with their partners and customers -- to develop content driven by business goals and customer needs. I'm able to turn almost any subject matter into stories that connect with their intended audience, and have done so for companies and brands like Red Hat, Verizon, New Relic, Puppet Labs, Intuit, American Express, HPE, Dell, and others. I also teach writing at Duke University, where I'm a Lecturing Fellow in the nationally recognized Thompson Writing Program. My current first-year writing course, "Post-Apocalyptic Fiction," examines several doomsday novels (Rumaan Alam's Leave the World Behind, Cormac McCarthy's The Road, and Emily St. John Mandel's Station Eleven) to build reading, writing, research skills that translate across academic and professional disciplines. (It’s fun, I swear!) I've also taught several iterations of a fully online course, "Writing 270: Composing the Experience," which enables students to narrate and reflect on summer work experiences via digital rhetoric and social media. Feel free to reach out to me here or via email.
