About

I'm the co-founder and CEO at Eventual. My background is in High Performance Computing (HPC) and Deep Learning and I have over a dozen patents/publications in the space. In the past, I have worked on high frequency trading on wall street, medical AI research at Berkeley and self-driving cars at both DeepScale (acquired by Tesla) and Lyft Level 5 (acquired by Toyota). I grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area and graduated from UC Berkeley with a degree in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. Check out the open source work that we are working on at Eventual (https://www.getdaft.io/)!

Experience

Eventual

CEO, Cofounder

Jan 2022Present · 4 yrs 2 mos · San Francisco Bay Area

  • Building the infrastructure that makes multimodal data processing as simple as SQL.
  • Our open source engine Daft handles the reality that modern AI applications need to process petabytes of images, video, and audio - something traditional data engines like Spark completely break down on. Instead of forcing AI engineers to become distributed systems experts, we let them focus on building breakthrough applications.
  • What we've built:
  • Processing petabytes daily at Amazon, CloudKitchens, Together AI, Essential AI, and other production Fortune 25 customers
  • 500x memory improvements and 15.7x throughput gains for multimodal workloads
  • 10x performance improvements over existing solutions for multimodal data
  • Company traction:
  • $30M raised across 3 rounds, including Series A led by Felicis and Seed led by CRV
  • Strategic investors: Microsoft (M12), Citi Bank
  • The multimodal frontier is here. Every software company needs this infrastructure. We're building it.
