Designed a folding shoe rack useful in small apartments to maximize space, considering machinery already available in the factory.
The design was modified to minimize material usage and to reduce welding operations involved in fabrication and eliminate the issue of warpage.
All components were then designed and then assembled in 3D in Solidworks.
The assembly was shown to the machine operators to determined whether or not the machine could do the necessary operations and iterations were done accordingly.
For the laser cutting machine, a 2D design of each component was created using AUTOCAD.
The shoe rack was manufactured using 0.7mm sheet metal, the process involved Sheet Metal Forming, Cutting and Bending as major operations.
The shoe rack designed and manufactured is currently in the company's production.
