Vaibhav Sharma — Software Engineer
Vaibhav’s journey began with a foundation of academic and extra-curricular excellence. From an early age, he stood out in Olympiads across subjects while also excelling in debates, poetry, and quizzes. He went on to become a KVPY Scholar awarded by IISc Bangalore and secured All India Rank 10 in the NDA 2 2018 exam, which opened the path to becoming a pilot in the Indian Air Force. Choosing instead to pursue engineering was his first major crossroads—a decision that reflected his passion for technology and innovation, while carrying forward the discipline and resilience the NDA exam journey had instilled in him. He achieved top results in national engineering entrance exams, placing in the top 0.85%ile in JEE Mains. This phase also shaped his teamwork and discipline further through competing in Basketball at the State level. His passion for problem-solving and innovation propelled him into engineering, where he thrived on hands-on challenges. At NSUT Delhi, he led a 10-member team to represent India and achieve International Rank 2 in the 2021 NASA-sponsored CanSat competition, one of the world’s most prestigious student aerospace contests—an experience that honed both his leadership and technical skills. This was complemented by numerous wins in high-stakes hackathons and coding competitions, including attaining India Rank 10 and International Rank 106 in the Reply Code Challenge 2021. Alongside his technical pursuits, he developed his strategic communication skills, earning ‘Best Delegate’ and ‘Special Mention’ awards in various Model UN conferences. Transitioning to the professional world at LinkedIn, he focused on creating tangible business impact by building and managing critical platforms used company-wide. He pioneered a project that generated $1M in annual savings for the company's logs infrastructure and engineered a solution that slashed inter-datacenter member traffic migration times by 83%. His work also involved architecting an events platform from scratch (300k+ daily events) and building and managing a logs platform that had over 9 petabytes of daily data ingestion. For these contributions, he earned two Bravo awards for technical innovation. Now, as an MBA candidate at IIM Ahmedabad (after scoring 99.89 percentile in CAT), Vaibhav is channeling his experiences into shaping his next chapter: combining his engineering depth with world-class business education to lead innovative, tech-driven products that create lasting impact for organizations and society.
