• The Policy in Action Program is a month long engagement for young professionals and university students who are keen to explore the fields of public policy and development. The program is designed to deliver core skills in policy analysis, advocacy and leadership, along with the experience of working on live projects for policymakers – MPs, MLAs, ministries and other government institutions. I participated in the Bangalore edition with a cohort of 60 people from diverse backgrounds as business consultants, investment bankers, architects, data scientists, doctors, chartered accountants, lawyers, budding economists, political scientists, writers, management graduates and engineers. I worked with a group of 5 fellows and successfully completed a live research project for a Member of Parliament.

• Initiated commercial satellite-building activities in India for the first time by negotiating with private industries to build satellites for the Indian space program. Trained 18 members of 3 private vendors to build 5 satellites ($210M budget).
• Reduced procurement cost of a sensor by 45% by championing the purchase of locally-manufactured sensors, as opposed to imported ones. Convinced multiple stakeholders (internal and external) to pursue this idea.
• Streamlined procurement of space-grade materials from 15+ international and domestic vendors and saved 5% (~$1M/year) in material fees and 10% in procurement lead time; managed purchase budget of $20M/year.

• Led a 14-member cross-functional team to deliver thermal systems for the first domestically developed radar antenna, boosting India’s security surveillance capabilities and reducing dependence on foreign satellites, saving $21M/year.

• Launched a series of 7 satellites ($245M budget) in 3 years instead of the usual time period of 4 years by designing and implementing 3 major process automation solutions, providing India with its first satellite positioning system.
